Reading Smiles

Reading Smiles are a group of young people from The Avenue School. They have been working towards the paddle power scheme ready to do there Practice Expedition from Shilling ford to Wallingford then camp over night and start again finally finishing near the old fair mile hospital.

Voyageurs Gold Exped

Voyageurs Peaks Gold DofEWe had a group of young people from the Voyageurs club undertake a Gold expedition to the Peak District at the start of the summer. The group had planned routes each day of 16.5 to 17k, these routes took them to many of the Peaks famous landmarks including Stanage Edge, Mam Tor and Kinder Scout. The routes provided the groups with some challenges (walking up hill with all your belongings for four days on your back) and some amazing views of the

Readingsmiles are a group who have been joining us after school on a Thursday afternoon. The group are working towards a paddling expedition which will be taking place during the school summer holidays. The group is made up of young people with Special Education Needs who are being supported by peer mentors from local secondary schoolsDuring the last eight weeks the group have been having fun on the river in Bell Boats and rafted canoes. Voyageurs

The Voyageurs group are about to undertake their assesed gold DofE expeditions in the Peak District. The group have been training towards this expedition over the last year and we all have our fingers crossed for good weather whilst we are away.

From September the club will be offering the Silver and Gold award. If you would be interested in helping with the club please contact Clare in the office on 0118

DofE Welcome pack

DofE will be putting the cost of Welcome Packs up on the 1st April 2011.

Prices will be:

Bronze and Silver – £16.00 each Gold – £22.00

(£2 has been added to cover administration costs)
