Ladies Xmas Paddle

It’s been an amazing year of Ladies paddling in 2011. We have been on adventures all over the placein all types of boats. We ended the year with our now annual Ladies Xmas Paddle.

Keeping with the theme from last year of passing castles by the river our paddle this year took us past Hampton Court Palace. We arrived at the centre early Sunday morning 18 santa hats and one Turkey hat all present and ready to paddle.

Good Turn Out For The PaddleSport Wavehopper Event

Congratulations to all of our paddlers for performing so well. Adventure Dolphin Pangbourne and Newbury teams had some of the fastest times of the day!It was a great turn out, with 44 people from different clubs,includingAdventure Dolphin Newbury and Pangbourne, BlackWaterValley, Basingstoke CC, Sharks and many others.Overall it was agreat day for everyone involved, with the following results:

The Verge

Newbury’s Verge and Monday Evening Paddling clubs teamed up on Monday 21st Nov. and again on Monday 12th Dec. for somewater polo matches in the Mary Hare school pool. The games started at 7pm and an hour later we dragged our battered and exhausted bodies from the pool, marvelling at the levels of frantic comptetiveness of the girls and the dirty tactics and downright cheating of th boys, and that’s just the staff……

Cadet Leaders

The following Cadets have completed their BCU Cadet Award Robert Willison, Adam Vaughan, Joe Stevens, Jamie Carter and Robert Parker. A big congratulations to the cadets for all the hard work and hours they have volunteered to the centre. It has been great to see so many of the cadets moving into the BCU coaching system and becoming involved with the Level 1 training

Voyageur Training Weekend

The Voyageurs group enjoyed a sunny training expedition in Dartmoor. The group undertook the training as part of their Gold DofE expedition section.

The group planned a route which took them over the moors for three days. The moor held some navigation challenges for the group but I am pleased to report they only got misplaced once.The group coped well in the hot weather, the expedition included carrying their kit for three days.

Inters go for a slide!



The inters youth club are going for a swim and slide. Tonight 22 of us are going over to Aquadome in Basingstole. Should be a splashing

DofE Welcome Packs

DofE will be putting the cost of Welcome Packs up on the 1st April 2011.

Prices will be:

Bronze and Silver – £16.00 each

Climbing Club (Rock Hoppers)

Rock Hoppers climbing club is open to climbers on a Monday evening aged 9-14 yrs. If you have completed a climbing course and would like to continue working on your skills we would love to see you on a Monday evening.
