NICAS Video

The National Indoor Climbing Achievement Scheme (NICAS) is a UK wide scheme designed to promote climbing development and accredit individual achievement on artificial climbing structures. It can be used as a starting point for people wishing to take up climbing and mountaineering. It is open to all candidates aged 7 and upwards.

Alpine Santa Has Returned to Lapland

What a fantastic 2days, overall we had a total of76 people attending at both Pangbourne and Waterside Centre. All of the young people managed to climbto Santas alpine grottoto receive a present plus aphoto of them with santa. Therewere evena couple ofadultstoo!! Overall it was a really good 2days.

Climbing Week in the Peaks

On Monday 8th August 11 people climbed aboard a mini bus and drove off to the Peak District for a week of climbing. During the week the group climbed at a range of crags, these included Stanage, Burbage North, Windgrather and Birchen. Throughout the trip, the group enjoyed stunning views, lovely rock faces, a spot or two of rain and lots of wind. .

Climbing Courses

Since we opened the new building last summer the centre climbing courses have proven to be very popular. The Wednesday evening climbing courses have been a great success with young people and adults training towards the National Indoor Climbing Awards level 1 and 2. The groups have been impressed with the many challenges which have been fitted into the climbing room space.The courses have been feeding into the climbing club which has been running on a Monday evening. Daytime sessions

The daytime programme has worked with 155 groups between April and July of this year.

Summer Activities

Summer holidays at Adventure Dolphin are jam packed with a whole range of activities to choose from. We have something for everyone, from day tasters to week long courses and even mini expeditions and camping weeks.

Quality Assurance

The next stage in our accreditation process is to gain ‘Adventure Mark’, this is a Kite Mark for schools approval for learning outside the classroom. I have received a report from Kevin D who visited all the club sessions in late February early March. He was pleased at what he saw and some sessions were excellent – so congratulations to all involved – we are moving in the right direction. He did highlight some things

Pangbourne Fete and Beale Park Boat Show 2011

Last weekend (11, 12th June) was a busy one for Adventure Dolphin; we were running activities at the Pangbourne Fete and the Beale Park Boat Show.

The Pangbourne Fete went really well, we ran three different activities for people to try: canoeing, climbing and archery. Participants were able to pay for one activity or to buy a Challenge Card for £5 which let them try three different activities, or one activity three times. Come and try climbing, archery or have a canoe ride with Adventure Dolphin. Take part in the Adventure Dolphin challenge (£5 for three activities) or just pop down and say hi. The day is always lots of fun with all sorts of activities, games, stalls and bars - there really is something for everyone!

Keep collecting Sainsbury and Tesco Vouchers

Brilliant news, we’ve managed to collect over 1 500 Sainsburys Active Kids Vouchers and 700 Tesco Vouchers. This is a fantastic start and we are really close to being able to get some exciting kit and equipment for our groups and clubs to use.

If you shop at either Sainsburys or Tescos remember to ask to recieve your vouchers; one for every£10 spent in store and in petrol stations or 1 voucher for every £5 spent in Express/ Local shops. Why not ask your friends

Feel Good Fortnight

Supporting the West Berkshires Feel Good Fortnight Adventure Dolphin is holding taster sessions of Climbing and Canoeing.

On Saturday 16 April we are holding taster sessions on the indoor climbing wall. The sessions are open to young people and families aged 8 upwards. The sessions will be running 10-11.30am and 1-2.30pm.

Help us Collect Sainsburys Active Kids Vouchers

Great news! Adventure Dolphin is able to collect vouchers for the Active Kids scheme run by Sainsburys.

This isafantastic chance for us to be able to getsome kit and equipment to help our youth clubs, paddling clubs and DofE sessions do more exciting things for more of you.

February Half Term

Adventure Dolphin was alive with the sound of lots of young people during the February half term. The week saw 45 young people take part in three themed days held at the centre.

Monday was our survival challenge day which included parachute games, explorers walk, shelter building in Sulham Woods and creating our explorers handbook. It was a wet and muddy day but

Top Club Climbing

In December the centre launched its after school Top Club Climbing programme. The programme involves local primary schools who are collected and driven to the centre once a week for four weeks.

Climbing Club (Rock Hoppers)

Rock Hoppers climbing club is open to climbers on a Monday evening aged 9-14 yrs. If you have completed a climbing course and would like to continue working on your skills we would love to see you on a Monday evening.

New Date for Childrens Climbing

Children’s climbing courses have been hugely popular on the new wall in Pangbourne. Due to the demand we have added an extra course on a Wednesday evening starting at the end of June. During the course you have the opportunity to work towards National Indoor Climbing Awards.
