Girls Sea Paddle
On the 7 May the ladies of Adventure Dolphin including our new member Katy aka Ken headed to Lepe for a days paddling on the South Coast. I was feeling unimpressed when I awoke in the morning to rain, girls paddling days have always been sunny. I should have realised that as soon as we started heading south the sun would not let us down.
When we arrived at Lepe we stopped for a quick hot drink and bacon sandwich before launching our sea kayaks onto the water. I will admit I had forgotten that my Sea Kayak takes a little longer to turn then my normal kayak.
I was excited to be paddling opposite the Isle of Wight which I learnt was only a mile and a half away or a 25 minute paddle. We headed along the coast to the Beaulieu River. As we paddled and chatted I had lost track of how far we had travelled. In total we paddled 13 miles, most of us had not realised we had been further than 5!
The Beaulieu River is a wide, winding and picturesque paddle. We all enjoyed looking in at the gardens and unique houses along the route. To my surprise we even found jellyfish.
The day was finished off with Penny kindly making scones on her camping oven, these where of course enjoyed with jam and cream. It was a great day with a lovely group of people. Jen smiled so much on the day that she has tan lines from laughing so much.
A selection of pictures from the day can be found in the gallery. Look out for details of the next girls paddle.
